Internet relationships are not at all uncommon, but many bloggers do not expect to fall in love through the blogging medium, though it happens all the time! Blogging can be a very personal experience, and if you have loyal readers you will soon develop virtual relationships with all of them. Many of these relationships are of the love-hate variety because you do not see eye to eye, but other times blog interactions turn into online flirtations, and more! Because many people share very personal information in their blogs, it actually isn’t too difficult to see how this happens.
In some blogging communities there are legitimate relationships that are formed between the bloggers. There are varying degrees of friendships as well as romantic relationships that form. How does this happen? It’s quite simple, actually. Think about it, the author of the blog writes about their day, about their childhood, or about hurtful experiences in their past. Then, a loyal reader comments with compassion day in and day out and relates in various ways. Over time there is a level of trust that forms between the two so that they feel comfortable sharing more than might actually be appropriate with a relative stranger. Then, before you know it there are shared emails, instant messages, phone calls, and more. When you look at it like that, it is simple to see how easy it is to find a blog relationship.
Blog relationships are very common, the problem is that not every blogger is who he or she says they are. This is a problem with all Internet relationships, and this is why we all must take care when blogging. You can blog about your personal life, but you should be sure not to give information that is too specific to your neighborhood or even your city, just in case you start conversing with someone who isn’t as well intentioned as you are! It seems silly to have to hold back in your blog, but it is a precaution that we all must take. Many people get around this by coming up with fictitious names for their street, their city, or even their state. This allows for the blogger to give the information and express freely without giving away too much personal information.
While you must take caution when blogging and when taking part in a blog relationship, there’s nothing to say that you can’t have fun, flirtatious, or even romantic interactions with other bloggers. If you share the same interests with some of the people that read your blog, why not get to know them better on a more personal level? One can never have too many friends, and if you can say that you made some great friends because you wrote a blog then you’re doing pretty darn well in the blogging business!
